Leap Day

We decided that since Leap Day is an added bonus day that we don't normally get, we would do something we don't normally do. We took the kids out to dinner and a movie, on a school night. They had lots of treats, and popcorn and a late night. It was simple but a fun way to break up the school week. And by the time we have he next leap year...Morgan will be in college, Dillon almost old enough to drive and date, Logan will be in 8th grade, and Camden will be baptized. A lot changes in that span of time, and it's crazy to think about.

Lady Gaga

Morgan is a student body officer this year. They had an assembly, and they got to choose a music star to dress up and present different talent acts to the school. So of course she chooses Lady Gaga.....naturally. ???? She was banned from wearing a "meat" dress, and other of her dresses lack the modesty needed. So here is her version of Lady Gaga's bubble dress. See the similarities? :)

Permission to drive

Morgan finally got her permit. It has been a long time coming. Between the state wide computer system crashing, losing her social security card, etc. But now she is legally allowed to drive with an adult in the car. Heaven help me. She truly scares the daylights out of me. Not that she is a terrible driver or anything, I just really, really don't like taking her to drive. I have found that teaching driving is NOT my thing. I am not helpful to her, and I am quite sure that I will have grey hair by the time she gets her license if I keep taking her to drive. :)

Logan's birthday and party

Logan is 10- double digits- a decade old. He was born during the Salt Lake Olympics, on the day the women took the gold in the bobsled. It's hard to believe a whole decade has passed. It hardly seems possible, but in other ways, it seems like he has just been around forever. He loves Legos still, playing Roblox on the computer, soccer, biking, and reading. He is obsessed with The Hunger Games series, and has read the entire thing 7 times. He has a lot of energy and bounces around from one activity to the next. For his birthday dinner we let him choose where he wanted to go. We were on the way to Tepanyaki, when he saw the sign for Golden Corral and promptly changed his mind. Ahhhhh-so close to some good food- but no dice. For his birthday he got a bike,
Legos, and an art kit. We love you Logan and are so happy you are part of our family!

He wanted his party at Classic Skating...again, and he wanted a Star Wars themed cake.
He had a great time bouncing on the inflatables, skating, playing in Pirates Cove, and playing in the f/x room with his friends.
He got lots of Legos, and cash...the two most popular gifts from his friends. goes to show you, they know Logan, and what he likes. :)

Nervous Wreck

Well, our 5 year old Honda Odyssey is no more. The day we got to New York, Matt's sister Robyn called us, and let us know that everyone was okay, but Meagan, and Camden had been in a car accident. A lady had run the stop sign, and hit the van broadside. Thank goodness Camden and Meagan were on the other side of the car. The airbags in the front, and the side air curtain on the right deployed. Meagan got a burn from the airbag, and hit her knee. However, other than that- they were unharmed. I have to say, when I got back and saw the car. I cried and thanked Heavenly Father one more time for their safety! When I was talking to Camden about the accident he said he was scared for a minute, but when the ambulance came, it was awesome! He was so excited to climb in it and push the buttons. I was trying to get more info. out of him and he said, "Well, I didn't like when my feet kicked my face! But then I got a Laffy Taffy and it had the funniest joke about a ghost on it. So I laughed and laughed. I wish I could remember the joke to tell you, Mom!" :) He didn't seem too terribly phased by the accident. Meagan said she had mentioned to Robyn that she was a nervous wreck to drive again. Camden apparently had been listening, because when they drove past the spot of the accident again, he said "I sure hope we don't get in a nervous wreck again!"

Anyway, the insurance company totaled the car, and we just picked up our new van a couple days ago. We are boring, and for the 3rd time in a row got a Honda Odyssey. What can I say- we stick to what we like!

New York

The annual toy and game fair is held in New York, and Matt wanted to attend this year. He said, "I have been married to you long enough to know I don't need to ask you if you want to go to New York. I am just asking if you have any plans you can't get out of that weekend."

We went to New York a couple days before the toy fair, so we could take advantage of the city. we saw the musical, "How to Succeed in Business without Even Really Trying."

It was good, not the best I've ever seen, but definitely entertaining and good. We walked around and saw the sights,
World Trade Center Memorial

of course ate out, went to a movie, shopped, and then went to the toy fair. It was overwhelmingly huge. I only went with Matt one of the days. One the second day, he went by himself and met with vendors. I went to Chinatown, walked to Central Park, and ALL over that city.
I took my pedometer with me, and clocked over 10 miles in one day. Horrible picture- but also climbed 27 flights of stairs. Not too shabby.
My hips hurt that night from pounding the pavement all day long. We had a great time and I love spending time with Matt all to myself. I love that city too!

Seriously...the biggest candy bar I've ever seen. (And the kids souvenir.)
