17

I really don't feel old enough to have been married for 17 years. It is amazing how fast the time goes. Truly- it seems like we were just newlyweds not long ago. I could not have married a better man. I just want to list a few reasons why I love being married to Matt.
1. He can make me laugh more than anyone I've ever met.
2. He is so smart! At his high school reunion a few weeks ago, somebody said something to me about the thing they remember most about Matt was how smart he was. He could always come up with the right answer in any class he was in. She said she had never met anyone smarter. I agree.
3. He loves me and he shows me everyday that he really does.
4. He is supportive of me.
5. He is always thinking of ways he can make my load easier. For example, a couple of days ago, he took Camden to work with him, so I could clean the floors without distractions.
6. He is a great dad. He spends lots of time with the kids, and takes them fun places.
7. He is very creative. He can come up with games and stories at the drop of a hat.
8. He is a great teacher. I learn a lot from him. Whether it is in gospel doctrine, or just at home. He knows how to teach.
9. He is humble.
10. He never talks bad about anyone. Even if I want him to agree with me about somebody, he can always see the good.

Thanks for 17 great years Matt. I love you!

Golf

The boys joined the junior golf club again this year. They played every Monday, with the same foursome. They have loved it! Dillon especially loves golf. I think Logan likes it because at the end he gets to spend a dollar in the club house. They had their tournament this week, and got bobble head trophies, which they thought were pretty cool. They can't wait to play again next year.

A boy and his boots

Camden loves loves loves his boots. He wants to wear them all the time. Unfortunately, he seems to think he looks best in just his boots and diaper. :) Two year olds certainly know what they want!

First Day of School 2009

The summer flew by, it honestly seems like I just wrote the last day of school post, and here we are. A new year, a new school for Morgan, and here I am with one kid at home. I have to admit, I cried when they went to school. Sure- I could do without the fighting, and the messes. We could use some more structure around here. But I miss them, when they are gone!

Morgan was so excited/nervous for Jr. High. She has been planning her first weeks outfits for weeks now. She was up at 5 something- too excited to sleep. She couldn't even eat breakfast. Oh- Jr. High days! I hope that she has a great year. It's a whole new world out there, and I have seriously been dreading her starting Jr. High for years. She had a rocky start to the morning. She was so eager to get to the bus. She and some friends planned to meet at the bus stop 20 min. early. They waited and waited, and it never came. They knew they were going to be late, so some moms drove past, and drove all 20 of them. I didn't even know until she got home. :( Apparently, she started running so she wouldn't be late, and biffed it on the asphalt, and scrapped her elbow pretty good.

She did have a good remainder of the day though. She had people she knew and friends in all of her classes, and the majority of her friends have her same lunch period. She was so worried about that, so I am glad it worked out in her favor.

Dillon and Logan weren't quite as eager to start school as Morgan was. (They didn't wake up at 5:00!) Logan was excited to get going though, and pretty hyper before he left. Dillon was probably more excited than he let on, because that's just how he is. I drove them to school, introduced them to their teachers, and then left them in a sea of other kids, waiting for school to begin. Logan is shouting, "I love you Mom!" as I am walking away, and Dillon gives me a smile and a head nod, while saying, "Chhh, Chhh" Which is his secret code that means, I love you, hugs and kisses. They had a great first day, and loved catching up with friends they hadn't seen all summer. They both went into detail about every thing that happened that day, including the boy who puked on the carpet 10 minutes after school started. Good times.

Camden kept asking, "Where da kids?" I would tell him, they are at school. He would say, "No! I go get in da locker." We went to Morgan's school several times, so she could memorize her class routes, and practice opening her locker. He always wanted to climb in it and hide. He is sure going to miss them this year! He has loved having them home this summer. So now, it's just he and I at home during the day. I can't even begin to think about when he will go to school! Camden and I made the kids special treats for the kids for their first day of school. Heart cookies, with "the best frosting ever."

Park City Getaway

We took the kids up to Park City, and stayed at the Marriott. We ate dinner, swam, watched a movie, and hung out. They always love staying in hotels and swimming. Even though we are so close to Park City, it feels like a world away, so they love having a before school getaway. The next day we were going to go to Lazer Tag, but they didn't open until afternoon, so we decided to go to Lagoon. We've been there a lot this year, and the kids never seem to tire of it. Camden loves it probably as much as anyone, and begs constantly to go. Every time he gets his shoes on he says, "I go to ride at Goon now."

Family Reunion

We have family that lives in Rexburg, and they are so good about coming to every family event. They always take the time to support us in events, and make us feel loved. We were so happy to go there, and have the reunion. Our niece Emily, planned the event and did an awesome job! She planned menus and games, etc. We got up there a few hours earlier than most people, so we went to Bear World, with Ben, Natalie, and Kids, and Dave, Emily & Laura. The kids loved this!
They had so much fun seeing real live bears roaming around. They got to ride some rides, and pet animals- and I think everyone had a good time there. They loved when we drove through the 2nd time around, and we were behind the truck that feeds the bears. They would do the funniest things begging for food. This was a huge highlight for them!

Later that evening, other family members joined us, and we ate made and ate calzones. We had homemade Italian sodas and salad. I wish I could describe the organization this family has. Seriously- they need to write a book- or teach a class! We had a great time visiting with family, the kids played night games, etc. The next day, we went to Warm River, which is just a big fat lie for a name! It was FREEZING! It was pretty cold outside, too. I think the only adult brave enough to get in the water was Dave. The kids had a great time tubing though!

They loved going down the river, and running back up, to do it again. They didn't seem to mind the cold. We ate lunch there, and then stopped on the way home to feed the fish. There is a spot, where they are almost jumping out of the water to get the bread we threw at them. That evening, we did a talent show. Every one had to do something, and most of it ended up being weird, silly things like flipping your eyelids inside out, etc. I was challenged by Morgan, and my cute nieces to do the splits. I tried before we started, to even see if I could still do them. I hadn't done them in 15 years probably, but I did them. So, I decided to do it for the talent show. BIG MISTAKE! I didn't stretch, and did I mention I haven't done them in probably 15 years? :) I heard three pops, and holy cow, it still hurts to sit down. I think I tore my hamstring. I did do them though- it just wasn't too pretty I'm sure. That will teach me to try and show off, and take the challenge of little girls! Anyway, later that night, we ate Ka-Bobs, salad, homemade ice cream, etc. We then played the Amazing Race Rexburg. We were divided into teams, and had to choose different activities, to compete, and of course, try to be the first to finish. It was so fun and so well thought out. We did things like, go to BYU-I and kick a field goal, do a jig in the parking lot of a busy store, etc. We took pictures to document us doing it, and had a great time looking at every ones pictures later. It was a blast, and we would love to do it again. The next day, we did carnival games. We shot air soft guns at a target, bowling, golf, bubble blowing contest, trampoline jumping to hit a high target, lasso roping, scooter contest etc. Then we went to a big grassy area, where they made a candy launcher, and launched candy to all the kids to catch. We had such a fun weekend. We hope when we grow up, that we can be like the Maglebys. They are so awesome, humble, and great examples!

Escape Artist

Our little escape artist has emerged. Much to my chagrin, he has learned to climb out of his crib. He climbs out, turns off his sound machine, opens his blinds, and shuts his door. He has a whole routine. The bad part about this is, he does it anytime he wants. The other night, he came out at 1:30 in the morning! He came down the stairs, in the dark, and didn't come to our room. He went into the living room, opened the TV console, and turned on the TV. He said he wanted to watch "Ses. Street." I am not quite sure what to do, because he will not fall asleep in a regular bed. I was hoping to keep him in his crib until he was 3! I would like to be able to sleep through the night again. Stay tuned...hopefully we will come up with a good solution soon!
