Dillon's baptism

Dillon was baptized and confirmed a member of the church. He was so excited about it. It was a great day. We had tons of family there, and it was such a special day for him. He was so sweet all day, and really trying his best to be as good as possible. Matt gave him a beautiful blessing when he was confirming him. It was so special for Dillon that BOTH of his Grandpa's could be witnesses, and participate. He sang a song with a few other kids at the baptism. Afterwards, we went to our house and had dinner for both sides of the family. It was fun- and I think everyone had a great time. On Sunday, Dillon bore his testimony in church. It was so sweet and sincere. He also moved me to get up there, and bare mine. He is such a sweet boy, and we are so proud of him.

Last day of school/Logan's Graduation

Today officially marks the first day of summer for us. The kids are all done with school now, until the end of August. They ended the year with a huge party at their friends house. They have an annual swim party, where they invite about 50+ kids over to swim, eat hamburgers/hot dogs, and slushies and swim for hours on end. They had a blast, and it is a great tradition, and welcome start to the summer.

Logan had his kindergarten graduation program. It was so cute! He loves singing- and doing these programs. I hope I can get these videos working- because he is a crack up to watch. He knows every word to every song, and heartily sings them out as loud as he can. He does it while putting his heart and soul into all of the actions, while occasionally looking over at us and winking and giving us a thumbs up. He got all 4's on his report card. Except one 3 on logging off of the computer when he is finished. That one made us laugh. I overheard him telling Dillon- "She just gave me a 3 because nobody is perfect, so they couldn't give me ALL 4's on my report card, so they had to give me a 3 in something. I know how to log off the computer." It is hard to believe my baby is going to be in first grade in the fall. Wow- time is just passing me by. I hope it slows down- or my kids are going to be graduated and off to college before I know it.

Pinewood Derby

Dillon participated in his first Pinewood Derby last night. He was so excited to race his car. He loves the color green, and named his car the "mean green machine." He got an award for the "Fastest Looking Car." They served a light dinner and raced 40 cars. (Yes- we have that many 8 to 10 year old boys in our ward.) He was so proud of his car, and that his Dad worked so hard on it with him. He had a great time, and loves being in Scouts.

Morgan's program

Morgan had her 5th grade program today. She did awesome! I love that she doesn't get nervous at all to sing or talk in public. It is SOOOO not like me! She really is a natural. I was so proud of her. She sang a solo- and she did great. She has been asked to sing "I Know that My Redeemer Lives." in sacrament meeting. We don't know when yet- but I am sure she will do great at that as well. I have a video, that I will try to add later, but it is having a problem loading right now.

Happy 1st Birthday Camden!

Wow! One year has passed since you joined our family. It hardly seems possible. You bring us so much joy, and so much happiness, laughter and smiles. You took your own sweet time to come to us, and I think that has made me appreciate you that much more. I know how fast this time goes, and I cherish every minute with you. Even when you are up in the night, I love to snuggle with you and hold you. I love to hold your chubby little hands, and smell your sweet baby head. I love when you laugh so hard, because I made a funny noise at you. I love that you are scared of the little cush ball. I love how you try so hard to make sound come out of your fingers when you are snapping. I love that if anyone even says the word cake, you start playing pat-a-cake. I never knew how much I needed you, until you were born, and now I cannot imagine a life with out you Camden. You can do so many things- and we are so proud of you. We love you with all our hearts. Happy first birthday our sweet baby!

Rest and Relaxation???

Matt and Richard decided to send Karen and I on a girls trip to Vegas for Mother's Day. We were gone for about 2.5 days. We did a lot of walking around, shopping, staying up late and talking, sitting by the pool, and more walking. We went to a movie, and walked out because it was so dumb. We also went to the spa for a massage. It was a very rejuvenating weekend, but not very restful, or relaxing, because we walked/shopped too much. :) We had a great time. I appreciate Matt so much, that he can take care of things when I am gone. He even cleaned the house from top to bottom, got rid of all the tupperware I'm always complaining about, and replaced it, and cleaned/organized the entire garage. What a guy! I love that he is thoughtful and tries to think of gifts that I may want, and he knew I probably needed a getaway more than any other type of gift. Thank you Matt- I love you!

Scouts and Birthday Party

Today was Dillon's first day of scouts. He was so excited to go. He is almost the last of his friends to be able to go, so it was a big day for him. I am his scout leader, and we were making Mother's Day presents, so he told me I really need to forget what he was making. :) He is so excited for the Pinewood Derby this month, and can't wait to do his car. He was so funny because he was stressing about not having anything signed off as completed in his book, and all of the other kids had things signed off. I don't think he is going to have a problem completing all of his goals. :)

The party favors...

Dillon and friends at his party.

On Sat. Dillon had his birthday party at Classic Fun Center. He had lots of friends come, and they skated, went to Pirates Cove, and to the bounce zone. I made him a pirate ship cake, and he loved it. He had a great time- and is excited for his next big party.....his baptism.

Happy Birthday Dillon!

Today my little boy is 8! It is hard to believe that my sweet son is now old enough to be baptized. I was remembering back to the day of his birth and thinking how blessed we felt when he arrived in our arms. He took 2 1/2 years to come to us, and then had such a rough delivery. The minute I held him, I had such an overwhelming love for him. He always has had such a sweet, peaceful spirit. There was a neurologist in at his birth, and after his birth, he told us he thought that Dillon's arm was paralyzed, because tests showed that it wasn't working right. However, after several hours, the doctor came back and said Dillon wasn't paralyzed. He thought his arm had been traumatized by his birth, and would now be okay. We truly had been blessed.

Dillon was a great little sleeper, and such a funny kid. From such an early age he had a natural curiosity in him. He was always been interested in how things worked, and the 'why's' of everything. He has always been such an obedient child. Even when he was 2 years old, we could see that in him. He has to follow the rules. When we moved him from a crib, to a big boy bed, we told him that he couldn't come out until we came and got him in the morning. (Morgan was a terrible sleeper and got up constantly!) We did not actually think us telling him would be all that it took. But it was. He never once went out of his room when he wasn't supposed to. When he was awake, he would sit by his door and knock, until we heard him. (We did not tell him to do this.) One time, he had apparently been awake for quite some time, and he patiently knocked and knocked until we heard him. We kept telling him that it was okay to come out of his room, when he woke up in the morning, but he wouldn't because he wanted to make sure it was the 'right time' to come out. He still is a great rule keeper, and example to his brothers and sister.

Dillon is a big thinker. We all get a kick out of the way his mind works. He always is making us laugh, and helping us to think of things from a different perspective. Just today he said, "Mom, exactly what time was I born?" I said 11:48 am. He says, "So that was Oklahoma time. If you do the time difference, it was really only 10:48 here, so that means I won't be 8 until exactly then." He loves asking questions, and is genuinely interested in the answers.
He also has a spiritual side to him. When he was 3 we went to New York over his birthday. We were walking in the rain, and Matt, Morgan and Logan were ahead of us. They crossed at a crosswalk, but the light turned before we could cross, so we stood on the corner waiting. All of the sudden Dillon took off and ran as fast as he could into the street, despite my protests. He didn't stop, so of course, I took off after him. We made it safely across the street seconds before a taxi cab smashed into a fire hydrant right where we had been standing. Dillon asked me, "Mom- why didn't you hear it?" I asked him what he meant, and he said, "I heard a voice say RUN! So I ran. Why didn't you hear the voice, too?" I have asked myself that same question- and all that I have come up with is that He knew that I probably wouldn't listen to a voice saying RUN, but I would chase after my child into the street. I wish I were as in tune and obedient as my son.
Dillon- you have brought so much happiness to us and we love you more than you will ever know. Your family loves you, and your Heavenly Father loves you. We are all so proud of you. Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Crazy weather

This is why Utah weather really stinks! I sooooo look forward to spring and being warm again. Especially after a long, snowy winter! Well, yesterday morning, May 1st this is what it looked like at our house.

Granted, it didn't stay long. But it's too cold to be May. Maybe June will be a little better, huh? I am looking forward to wearing flip flops. :) We do have some really pretty flowers and plants blooming right now. I love a warm spring day, where we can go outside for a walk and look at all of the plants in bloom. So here is a look at a few of the plants and trees starting to blossom and bloom in our yard.

I love this tree in the spring.
