Bear Lake

Morgan and a couple of her friends made a "bucket list" for the summer. One of her main things she wanted to do was to go to Bear Lake again like we did last year. All of the kids had so much fun last year- so I was all for that! We drove through the canyon about Logan, and Morgan's friend Olivia was looking pretty pale. I looked in the review mirror and said are you okay? As soon as I said that she says, "NO!" and then gets sick all over the car. That was fun.... We did make it there in one piece though. Hailee, Morgan's best friend, had stayed in Logan with her Mom and brothers at her grandma's house. They met us up at Bear Lake and we spent the day with them.

The kids had so much fun! Camden is not hard to watch at beach, because he doesn't like to get into the water. He just plays in the sand. We rented a canoe- and the kids paddled their little arms off, and had a great time.

We left much later than we anticipated- and after Camden got locked in an outhouse bathroom- we left to eat at Le Beaux. After eating we made the long road home with all the girls and my boys. No more puking incidents. Yay! We didn't get home until after 11:00. A full day of fun in the sun. We love Bear Lake it really is a little bit of heaven on earth.

Willow the pepper

Camden helped pick some of the vegetables from our garden. He came in and said, "We can never, ever eat this one. Promise!" i asked him why and he said because it looks like a person and it's bad luck to eat it." He said, " I am going to name it Willow. Willow the pepper." So Willow the pepper...welcome to our family!

Fourth of July

Morgan in her school shirt...not donning the patriotic attire.

We did something different this year than the past 19 years we've been married. We ALWAYS go to the Layton parade, we always sit in the same spot, and we always go to the fireman's BBQ afterwards. However this year we branched out a little. We went to the Kaysville parade, because Morgan was in that with the officers from her school.
Terrible picture- but it's all I got.

Let me tell you- these Kaysville people sure have a lot of "hometown pride." It was completely packed, and one of the longest parades I have ever seen. About half way through, there was a break in the parade, and we thought it was over. We made the comment, "Wow- that was a long parade". We packed up our stuff and then realized there were some more floats coming. We stood and waited, and there were still almost as many floats as had already come. The parade was so long that we missed out on the fireman's barbecue altogether. All of Matt's siblings/kids picked up lunch and then brought it over to our house to eat. We hung out for a while, then parted until the evening festivities.
We did keep with tradition and go to the amphitheater to hear the symphony play, as always. We love listening to the Overture of 1812- and then anticipating the cannons going off, signaling that the fireworks are about to start. That seems to be a highlight of all of my kids. We realized how much the kids love and anticipate these traditions. There were tears when we mentioned doing our own fireworks instead. Serious discussions and tears. They love these traditions with family. I guess we will continue you doing these same things, even if it means braving the crowds at the end of the fireworks.

Happy Fourth of July!
